Quick Summary

Best 27-Inch Monitor

Best Looking Monitor

Best Budget Monitor

Best Overall Monitor

Samsung LS27E330HZX

Asus VG245H

ViewSonic VX2452MH

Acer GN246HL

 ViewSonic VX2452MH

Screen

The screen of this thing is pretty great and I need to say that I love it. For the small price tag, it is Full HD with only 2ms of pixel response. The picture is great and clear but viewing angles aren't the best. However, you can tilt the screen for better adjustments.

ViewSonic is a great example that it is possible to make good gaming monitor, for a small amount of money. It is the cheapest monitor on this list, so don’t expect all the features, but trust me, it is great! It comes with a 24-inch screen, with only 2-millisecond pixel response, which is fantastic for games with a ton of actions at the same time. The VX2452MH has Full HD 1080p screen. But I need to add one downside. This monitor doesn’t have the best viewing angles, because of TN display, but it will be okay if you put it in front of your chair. The brightness rating of this monitor is 300 cd/m2.

Design

The design is pretty straightforward and I need to say, normal. However, this monitor is more on the budget side and that's why it looks like a normal monitor. I really like nice glossy bezels that are great-looking but keep in mind, they are fingerprint magnets.

As you can see on pictures, this monitor looks pretty much like every other normal monitor. It doesn’t have gaming look, and that is normal for this price because you are not buying $600 Asus Rog. But, it is very thin, and the clean look makes it more expensive than it actually is. This monitor has nice glossy bezels with ViewSonic logo in the center. You can tilt monitor, but you can’t adjust the height of it. It also has nice and simple round base.

Features

And the last thing, features. As I said above, you can tilt the screen, but you can’t adjust the height of it. The cool thing that you can do is remove the base, and put it on the wall. If you are concerned about ports, behind the monitor there are VGA, DVI and HDMI ports, and also two audio jacks. There aren’t any USB port or DisplayPort input. But, there are 2-watt speakers. We all know that speakers in monitors aren’t the best, but however, it is better to have them. They can get loud, but the sound quality isn’t the best.

Price

And now the main thing about this monitor, price. It is more than fair and it is the cheapest option on this list. We can easily say that this is best budget gaming monitor nowadays. For this price, you are getting all the great features for some serious gamers

Conclusion

The monitor is great for this price, but it isn’t the best gaming monitor under $200. You are getting very good gaming screen with only 2 ms response rate. Color accuracy isn’t the best, but you are getting the nice and sharp image. After all, it is a solid choice if you want gaming monitor that won’t break your budget.

PROS

  • Inexpensive
  • Great response rate
  • HDMI port
  • Sharp Full HD screen

Cons

  • Low color accuracy
  • Small amount of features

Dell Gaming Monitor SE2417HG

Screen

Dell SE2417HG is another budget option on this list, but I love it. Screen is pretty sharp with Full HD panel and 2ms response rate. However, I would love to see more than 60Hz of refresh rate. It also doesn't have any special and unique features like the previous one with a smaller price.

Another budget option, this time from Dell. If you were wondering about the name of this monitor, last letter ‘G’, stands for gaming. I know that this information is the useless thing that you will learn in this review. Dell’s panel rocks 23.6 TN display with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution. It also has 60Hz refresh rate. I would like to see better refresh rate, because of all action games. That is one downside for this monitor, but you can’t get everything at this price point. The monitor also has 2 millisecond pixel response, which is fantastic. Viewing angles and colors are great for this one. Also, the picture is sharp and clean, so no worries about that. Brightness rating for SE2417HG is 300 cd/m2.

Design

I really love the design of this Dell and you can't disagree with me that it is beautiful. Bezels are ultra thin so you can easily make a setup with two of these. Another great thing that some people will love, is that this monitor doesn't look like it is meant for gaming.

Now, let’s talk about design of this beauty. It has gaming design, and it really looks more expensive. I love big circle holder of the monitor. Bezels are thin, which mean that you can make an amazing setup with two monitors. Everything is black, except grey stand. The back of the monitor is made from glossy black plastic and it looks great. All in all, Dell made very great looking gaming monitor.

Features

The last thing, features. The display connectors include 2 HDMI ports, VGA, and of course 3.5 audio output. There aren’t any of DVI or USB ports, which is a little bit of shame. The case with ViewSonic was different because with that monitor you get speakers, but there are none on this one. But, to be honest, you don’t need to worry about them, because they are not that good anyway. But however, it would be better to have them included. The height isn’t adjustable with this monitor, which is another downside.

Prices

As I said earlier, this is another budget option on this list, and for the price you are paying, it is definitely worth it. It has a pretty good screen with nice numbers, and it will be more than enough for good gaming experiences. Also, just look at the design of this one. It is so clean and simple.

Conclusion

Okay, this is another budget monitor. The screen is nice, with the nice response and with the great and sharp picture. Viewing angles and colors are great, also. But, there aren’t any ports for USBs, and there aren’t any speakers. The design is great because it actually looks like a true gaming monitor. So, if you want good gaming monitor for the small price, and you don’t care about ports, this can be a great choice!

Pros

  • Great gaming design
  • Good and sharp screen
  • Two HDMI ports
  • Reasonable price

Cons

  • 60 Hz refresh rate
  • No USB ports and no speakers

 BenQ 24-Inch Gaming Monitor

Screen

This one isn't on the budget, and that's why it has more features with better screen. It has big 24-inch great looking display with nice and sharp colors. Viewing angles are also great and that's a big plus for BenQ. One downside I have is that it only has 75Hz refresh rate.

This time, we have a monitor from Benq. I really love it, and I’m sure that you will, too. This isn’t on the budget side, and that is why it is better than previous monitors. It comes with a 24-inch screen, and it can be used for gaming on PC or console. The screen is Full HD, 1920 x 1080, with 75 Hz refresh rate. If you want to use it for the console, my advice is to lower it on 60 Hz. The big advantage is that it comes with only 1 ms pixel response, which is better the best you can get. You can really tell difference between this one, and for example, normal 5 ms monitor. So if you play games with a lot of action, you will love RL2455HM. Viewing angles are also good. With this BenQ, you will get crisp and quality pictures. Brightness is also a big plus with this monitor.

Design

BenQ RL2455HM is another good-looking monitor with the nice gaming design. It is all black with really good build quality. BenQ is popular for using only high-quality parts while building their stuff. I also love the position of the buttons on the right side.

The design is simple but cool. It is made of plastic and 99% of the monitor is black. There are some red accents on the stand, and they bring the feel of a gaming monitor. Also, the whole stand is looking great. You can tell that this monitor is made for pure gaming. Bezels are not the thinnest, but they are normal. You won’t even notice them. We can see BenQ logo at the bottom. All the buttons are on right side, which is nice because they really fit in this design. Back of the monitor is also made from plastic, with big nice Zowie logo on it. They are also screws, which mean that you can mount this monitor on the wall or something.

Features

One downside is that you can’t adjust the height on this monitor. But, you can tilt it, so there is something. You can tilt the screen 15 degrees back or 5 degrees forward, but that’s it. This model comes with standard ports, such as two HDMI ports, a DVI port, and D-SUB input. Also, there is a port for headphones. As I said above, this monitor can be used for consoles. That is because it comes with speakers. They aren’t the greatest, but they can do the work for console players.

Price

It is on the edge of our budget, which is good because I suppose that you have enough money. However, I think that you can get a little bit better options for this price tag, and that's why I would skip this one and choose another one. Keep reading.

Conclusion

If you ask me, this monitor is great. It is the really good choice for gamers that want gaming monitor that won’t break their bank. It has a great screen with great pixel response, so it is amazing for action games. The display is bright and colorful enough for every game out there. It is also good for console players, because of 2-watt speakers that you get with it. So, this is one of the best gaming monitors under $200 on this list.

Pros

  • Great screen, sharp picture
  • Amazing gaming design
  • 1 ms pixel response
  • Great for console gamers

Cons

  • Not so adjustable

Acer GN246HL 24

Screen

Acer is stepping up the game in this field. This is one of the best monitors on this list and with a good amount of reasons. First of all, it has 144Hz refresh rate with 1ms response time. This is a heaven for all FPS gamers out there. I am sure that you like this one.

I bet that you will love this monitor because I do! I will tell you immediately that this is one of the best monitor under $200 you can buy right now. Acer brings 24-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080p) screen. It is really well made, so viewing angles and contrast is great. The big thing with this ‘budget’ gaming monitor is that it has 144 Hz refresh rate. For all gamers out there, that means that everything on the screen becomes more fluid. There will be zero ghosting while playing. One more thing, that separates GN246HL from normal monitors is 1 ms response time. That’s why I said zero ghosting. Overall, the picture is clean and sharp, and the display is bright enough. That’s why this monitor is the best pick under 200 dollars. It is almost impossible to find something like this for less price.

Design

I can't stop looking at this beautiful and aggressive design buy Acer. Just take a look at this stand with all orange parts out there. They really know how to build great-looking monitors and I really love them for that one. All in all, I love the design of this one.

The look of monitor looks just like every other one, but the stand sticks out. It’s made from black glossy plastic with orange accents. Also, it is very thin. A lot of times, monitors are a little bit bigger, but this one is just right. Bezels aren’t the thinnest, but they are like every other. At the bottom, you can see simple Acer logo. Back is made from plastic, and you can mount in on the wall or something else. There is also a hole for cables, which is nice to have. All the buttons are on the bottom right side, with the big power button. It glows blue when the monitor is on, which is cool.

Features

One downside is that you can’t adjust the height on GN246HL. But, you can tilt the monitor 15 degrees forward. Also, you get one unique thing – Nvidia 3D Vision. It is useless if you don’t have a right graphics card or a pair of glasses. From outputs, you get HDMI, VGA, and DVI-D port. There isn’t any DisplayPort. Also, you won’t need VGI port, because it only supports 60 Hz refresh rate, and I’m sure you want 144 Hz. Because of that, you will need to use DVI port. The Nice thing from Acer is that you get this cable in the box along with a VGA cable too. There is a port for headphones, but you won’t get built-in speakers like with previous one.

Price

Yes, it costs a little less tan $200 but that is under our budget, right? For this price tag, you are getting all the features that one monitor needs to have. I really recommend buying this one because you won't regret and it will be one of the best purchases in your life.

Conclusion

As I said before, this is the best monitor on this list. The design is great, there are a lot of features, but the most important thing, screen, is fantastic. You get Full HD resolution with 144 Hz refresh rate. That can really change the way of gaming because it is so much better. Also, there is only 1 ms pixel response time, which means zero ghosting while playing games. So, after all, it can easily be the best gaming monitor under $200, perfect for gaming.

Pros

  • Best screen on the list
  • Very cool design
  • 144 Hz refresh rate
  • 1 ms pixel response rate

Cons

  • You can't adjust height

 ASUS VG245HE

Screen

Asus is really good brand if you want to make safe purchase. I really love them and their products and this is one of them. It has big 24-inch Full HD display with 1ms response time. However, it can be better because it only has 75Hz refresh rate. But, you can pay more and get 144Hz.

Asus really knows to make a great monitor. It isn’t the secret that they make one of the best gaming monitors on the market right now. This model comes with 24 inches Full HD screen (1920 x 1080p), perfect for gaming. This would easily be the best monitor on this list, but the refresh rate is smaller than Acer’s one. It has 75 Hz refresh rate, which isn’t bad by any means, but we saw that it can be better for the same price. You can also but this monitor with 144 Hz for a little bit more money. But even with 75 Hz, you will get really nice and smooth gaming experience. Response time is great – 1ms. That is a big plus for this monitor because ghosting while gaming can be irritating. The brightness rating of this monitor is 250 cd/m2, which is pretty bright. Also viewing angles are good.

Design

Without a doubt, this is the best looking gaming monitor on this list. I really love everything about it, from thing bezels to amazing stand. It has that famous 'gaming' details all over the place and that's what I love about it. As I said, bezels are thin, so you can even combine two or three of these.

Definitely best design on this list. Without a doubt. It has really ‘gaming’ oriented look. Maybe screen is the same as on normal monitors but just look at that base. Very sharp look. Also, great thing that this monitor include is a small hole on the monitor’s stand, which is great for easy cable management. All buttons are located on right side of the monitor, and they look very minimalistic. Back is amazing. I never saw this kind of design on a budget gaming monitor. A lot of beautiful black lines on back with big Asus logo, gives the user amazing experience. Bezels are very thin, and you won’t have any problems with them.

Features

Now, the big WOW. This monitor is fully adjustable. Not only you can tilt it a little, now you can adjust the height of it to 5 inches. You can pivot the monitor vertically into portrait mode. We can’t see this feature with a lot of monitors under $200. This is unique. If you are wondering why would you put the monitor into portrait mode, I will explain to you in one example – streaming. You can now have a setup with 2 monitors, and while playing on one, you can open chat with other. That is really helpful because you won’t need to put the game down just to open chat. If we are talking about ports, there are plenty. You get two HDMI ports, one VGA and a port for audio. So you won’t need to unplug your console anymore because of two HDMI ports. And yes, you can use this monitor for gaming, because it has built-in speakers. They are not the best, but they will do the work for console players.

Price

It is on the edge, but I need to say that it is often on sale. So if you have time, you can wait a couple of days and see if it is on sale and save a couple of dollars. But my advice is to save a little bit now and buy a better option with 144Hz refresh rate. It isn't the biggest difference, but it is always better to have more.

Conclusion

As I said above, this would easily be the best monitor on this list. The only downside is refresh rate. But, I also said that you can upgrade it and buy one with 144 Hz refresh rate. That would be my advice. Just to recap, this is the best design on this list, with the great and sharp screen. There are a lot of features, and I love fully adjustable monitors. It is really a big plus! It is also great for console players because of two-watt speakers. Now there are questions: Speakers and adjustability or screen? Asus or Acer? Break the budget or stay on the budget?

Pros

  • Best design on this list
  • 1ms response rate
  • Fully adjustable
  • Perfect for console players

Cons

  • 75 Hz refresh rate if you don't upgrade

Samsung LS27E330HZX

Screen

This is the first monitor from Samsung on this list and you will love it if you love big monitors. It is a 27-inch beast with an amazing screen. It has 1ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate. It also has a ton of different features, from Gaming one to Eco mode feature.

Finely something from Samsung. This is the first 27-inch monitor on this list. It is made for gaming, with 1ms response time. It comes in Full HD resolution, with 16:9 aspect ratio. But don’t worry, the picture doesn’t feel stretched. Screen looks fine, with the sharp and clean image. I put this monitor on the list because I know there are a lot of people that want a bigger image for playing games like Dirt Rally or something similar. The refresh rate is normal, 60 Hz. It isn’t the best for gaming, but it is okay for games like I mentioned. The price is also more on the budget side, so that refresh rate is okay.

Design

It is pretty straightforward with the nice and simple look. It is all black with the great brushed aluminum finish. I really love to see brushed aluminum, especially on monitors. Bezels are thin so you can combine multiple of these and make great-looking gaming system.

The design is pretty straightforward. The monitor looks nice and simple. I love thin bezels because you can put two or even three of these next to each other. The whole monitor is black, and it has brushed aluminum look. The stand is looking nice because it isn’t the same circle stand like every other on the market. It is also very thin, and that is a plus for Samsung. Buttons are located on the back side, which I like because it gives an even more minimalistic look. Samsung really made a beautiful monitor with this one.

Features

There are a lot of modes built-in this monitor. There is a game mode, and if you turn it on, black will become darker. There is also eye saver mode for more natural viewing comfort. And the last one, ECO saving mode. It will adjust screen brightness and will save a lot of energy. This monitor has a good amount of ports too. It comes with one HDMI and one VGA port. There aren’t built-in speakers but that isn’t big deal.

Price

Well, it costs around $200 and often times a little bit more than that. I don't know what to say, if you really love this monitor and want something big and nice, save the money and get it. You can also wait for a little and buy it on sale, but I recommend it and it is a great monitor overall.

Conclusion

Great monitor with a big screen for all gamers out there that want something bigger. It is great for setup with multiple monitors, because of thin bezels. The design is amazing. The downside is refresh rate. I would love to see a bigger number, but you can’t fit both big screens with perfect refresh rate under $200. That is just my opinion.

  • Nice big screen
  • Amazing design
  • 1ms pixel response
  • A lot of different modes

  • 60 Hz refresh rate
  • Not the best option for consoles

ASUS 23-inch Full HD

Screen

This is another option from Asus, this time more on the budget side. It is a little bit smaller, with a 23-inch screen. It has 1ms pixel response and 60Hz refresh rate. This isn't the best, but keep in mind that it costs a lot less than others on this list. It also has a lot of ports.

Another monitor from Asus on this list, this time in 23-inch variant. Yes, this is a little bit smaller monitor than previous ones. But it is great and you won’t feel any difference. It comes in Full HD resolution with 16:9 aspect ratio. There is 60 Hz refresh rate, which isn’t the best on the list, but it can pass. But, there is fast response time of 1ms. So, there will be zero ghosting while gaming. Because of zero ghosting, this monitor will give very pleasant experience for every gamer out there. All in all, pictures are looking clean and crispy, with 1ms pixel response. The only downside is 60 Hz refresh rate, but we can’t change anything now.

Design

It looks pretty nice, and it is made for people that want something simple and clean. I love it but I prefer more aggressive looking monitors, and that's why I can't give it 5/5 stars. However, if you don't want to show off, and want something simple, you should consider this one.

The monitor is looking great. You can’t tell that this is gaming monitor, which is great for some people that don’t want to ‘show off’. The whole monitor is black, except grey aluminum stand. Bezels are thin, so you won’t even notice them. The back panel is made from black glossy plastic with Asus logo on it. Buttons are on the bottom right, and they are pretty easy to use and navigate. Asus really knows to build beautiful monitors, and this is one example. I really love that shiny black color. Also, the stand is looking very unique.

Features

There are a couple of nice features on this monitor. Let’s start with ports: there are two HDMI and one D-Sub port. Also, there is 3.5mm jack for headphones or even microphone. I love to see two HDMI ports because if you love to play on a console you don’t need to plug it in every single time. Yes, this monitor is good for console gamers, and you are getting built-in speakers. They aren’t the best, but who cares? You don’t need to put on headphones every time you want to play games.

Price

I already said that it costs a lot less than others on this list, and that's why I like it so much. It is very good and if you are on a tight budget but want something great, maybe this is a way to go. It has all needed features and screen isn't bad. For casual gaming, this is more than enough.

Conclusion

This was the smallest monitor on this list, but I love it. The design is nice and simple, with a glossy plastic that I love the most! The screen is great, and 1ms response time is great for every FPS gamer. Also, it is for gamers that don’t want to spend much more just to get 144 Hz refresh rate. It is nice to have, but after all, this is budget gaming monitor, so you can’t get everything.

Sharp and bright image
Great shiny design
1ms pixel response time
Great for console gamers

Only 60 Hz refresh rate
Someone needs bigger screen

ASUS VS278Q

Screen

Yes, it is the third monitor from Asus on this list, but what I can do about that? I love this one also, and it is a little bigger than rest on this list. It has big 27-inch screen and it looks amazing. Refresh rate isn't the best and you can't adjust many things, so keep that in mind.

And the last one this list, Asus VS278Q-P, another 27-inch gaming monitor. As I said, I love big gaming monitors, but they are usually very expensive. But this one is more one budget side and it won’t break the budget. It has Full HD resolution, which is standard. The screen is really sharp and colorful, and that’s what you want to see with big monitors like this one. The response time is pretty quick, 1ms. That is great for all FPS gamers out there. The refresh rate is a slightly different story, featuring only 60 Hz. But don’t let that demolish you, this monitor is still great for gaming and it you will get very great experience with it. Especially if you never played games on a monitor that is this big. Trust me on that.

Design

I am sorry to say this, but it doesn't look very good. It is pretty simple and clean, but some people likes that. It is all shiny and I love shiny things but they get dirty really fast. They are fingerprint magnets and that's why I need to clean them really often. All in all, pretty straight design.

Pretty straightforward look. Nothing special, but it is simple and nice. It doesn’t look like gaming monitor, which is great for some people. The whole monitor is black, and it is really shiny. If you read the whole text, you will know that I love shiny monitors. The stand is like every other, but it looks cool. Buttons are located at the bottom right, and I think that it is the best position. Easy to reach, easy to navigate.

Features

There are two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort connector, which is uncommon to see on monitors with this price tag. I said before that I love to see two HDMI ports because of ability to power both PC and console. There are built-in speakers and I would love to see them on every PC. This monitor comes with ‘QuickFit’ feature which is very unique. It will let you see real-size photo or document. That proves that this monitor isn’t just for gaming and that you can do some serious stuff on it.

Price

I don't know why, but the price of this monitor is going up and down a lot. Sometimes it costs very little, but sometimes the price is so high, around $250. I don't know why is this happening and my advice is to buy it only if it has normal price at the moment. Don't overpay!

Conclusion

All in all, I love it. It is big and nice. The image is looking great and I love big-budget monitors. The refresh rate isn’t the best, but that isn’t big deal because you get 1ms response time. So you can use this monitor both for FPS games and for office PC. I love that ability. And of course, you can plug console if you love to play on them! It isn't the best gaming monitor under $200, but it is worth your money.

Big screen
Simple design
QuickFit

Low refresh rate

Refresh Rate and Response Time

As you read in the whole text, almost everything is about this two things. We reviewed for you monitors of 60, 75 and even 144 Hz. But you might be asking, why is that number important. Well, it is. The refresh rate of a monitor has an impact on input lag. Input lag for 60 Hz display is around 16.67ms, and input lag of 144 Hz is around 7.5ms. So be aware of this. The standard for refresh rate is 60 Hz. Forget about anything that is less than that, and I will give you advice. Buy 144 Hz. It is really better, I know from my own experience.

Now, response time. Response time is a measure of how quickly can a pixel change from black to white, or from one shade of gray to another. The lower number is better in this case. My advice is not to get anything that is bigger than 2ms. I know that some of you will disagree, but this is the list of gaming laptops!

Just to recap, don’t get anything below 60 Hz for refresh rate, and don’t get anything bigger than 2ms in pixel response time. That is just the minimum. Of course, I suggest you 1ms and 144 Hz for the full gaming experience.

What Is The Best Gaming Monitor Under $200?

As I said in the text, my favorite is Acer GN246HL and will tell you why. First, it is definitely the best pick for this price tag. You can’t find the better option right now. It comes with Full HD panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and response time of 1ms. You can’t get better unless you pay twice or even triple. Also, the design is absolutely sick! Glossy plastic with orange accents are looking amazing. The monitor is also the thinnest on this list. So for this price you are getting: awesome screen, very cool design, 144 Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. Can you ask for better?

If you want something bigger, for example, 27 inches, I would go with Samsung SE330. Big bright screen, with a ton of modes, will give you excellent experience while gaming. The only downside is lower refresh rate (60 Hz), but that is okay.

The last monitor that I need to mention is Asus VG245H. Without a doubt, it is the best looking gaming monitor on this list. Just look at that lines. 24 inch, Full HD display with 1ms response time. As I also mentioned, the only downside is refresh rate (75 Hz). But, on the other hand, you are getting a monitor that is perfect for console players, because of dual HDMI ports and built-in speakers. You are also getting the fully adjustable machine. You can play with that all day. Also, it is perfect for dual monitor setup, for streamers or hardcore gamers. After all, my advice is to buy an upgraded version of this monitor with 144 Hz. I know it is a little bit more expensive, but if you can do it, do it. If you can’t do it, buy Acer GN246HL.

All in all, if you want the best gaming monitor under $200, buy Acer GN246HL. If I missed any monitor, please comment and I will update the list.

  5. Among those mentioned, I consider the Samsung SE330 as best for gamers. The sheer size of the screen at 27 inches will provide the best gaming experience for users. The slower refresh rate of 60 Hz is meager and hardly noticeable anyway.

  8. Thank you for these options. Now I will know what to buy if my monitor gets busted. Perhaps a gaming Cpu should be next.

  10. I think Asus monitors, as well as their motherboards, are still the best. In the gaming realm, their hardware really stand out.

  11. With a lot of gaming monitors in the market, it becomes difficult to pick out the best one for your needs. I was checking out the Acer GN246HL at a local shop, and was really ecstatic to see it on your list. I agree with you that this monitor, while under $200, boasts the feature of having full HD 144hz refresh rate with the 1ms response time. Great, for me. But what I really want more is that’s its really thin – but not to the point of being fragile, it’s just right. Thanks for confirming that I’m making the right choice.
